🇺🇸🇷🇺 Joe Biden has praised the diplomatic efforts and general patience of Germany’s Olaf Scholtz in getting a historic prisoner swap across the line. Germany allowed the release of Vadim Krasikov, convicted of killing a dissident in Berlin. In all, eight of the 24 prisoners swapped were Americans.
🇺🇸🍊 Donald Trump has had his appeal of his hush money gag order defeated. Trump will be silent until he is sentenced on 18 September. Things will remain quite hush hush until then.
🏊🏽‍♀🇿🇦 Tatjana Smith won her fourth Olympic medal and second at Paris 2024 to end her career on a high after confirming her retirement following silver in the 200m breaststroke final.
🕹️✊🏽 Video game voice actors in the US were striking about AI threatening their jobs on Thursday. Voice and motion-capture performers picketed outside Warner Bros. Games. They said that artificial intelligence models were trained using actors’ voices without their consent nor compensation.
