Drought affects millions in southern Africa

The southern African region is experiencing one of its worst droughts in decades. Exacerbated by El Niño, it has led to extreme food insecurity and water shortages for millions.

🇺🇦🪖 Ukraine has suspended its consular services for all military-age men living abroad. With more than 800,000 Ukrainian men living  abroad who are technically eligible for mobilisation, things could get very uniform (literally) in May.
🇺🇦🇺🇸 US Congress has passed a major, $61-billion aid package for Ukraine, with the first billion already earmarked for immediate use. Senator Chuck Schumer said in a message to Ukrainian President Zelensky: “OK, we got it done. Now go win the fight.”
👟🏀 Basketball sensation Caitlin Clark has signed with Nike in an eight-year, $28-million deal. Included is a signature shoe, with the honour of it being the most lucrative shoe deal in women’s basketball history.
🎸🔨 John Lennon’s once-lost acoustic guitar is going on auction in May. Discovered in an attic, the guitar is expected to exceed the estimated sale price of $600,000 to $800,000.
