The Swiftboater Coming for Biden

Donald Trump is more chaotic than ever — demanding “absolute immunity,” prodding Russia to attack NATO, selling gold-lamé sneakers — but his third campaign is the calmest one yet. The leaks have dried up. Staffers aren’t knifing one another in broad daylight. The machine methodically took apart Ron DeSantis and is about to steamroll Nikki Haley. Credit for this goes to the duo running the campaign, Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita. She’s the better known of the two thanks to her backstory of working for Trump, then DeSantis, then Trump again. You may not know LaCivita’s name, but you know his work: He ran the infamous Swift Boat campaign that destroyed John Kerry in 2004. On Intelligencer, LaCivita opens up to David Freedlander about their plan to beat Joe Biden, which starts with not trying to tame Trump.
