I’ve been asked to do an episode on the interview, but I don’t really think there’s much there.
I will list my takeaways from the interview because I do believe Putin is the most important world leader at the moment.
- Can you imagine any of the last five presidents giving a detailed history of America without notes the way Putin recalled Russia’s history? US history is a fraction of the size of Russian history, and I doubt Biden, Obama, or Trump could lay out the details of the Spanish-American War, where the US acquired Puerto Rico and Guam.
- The regime journalists, who for over 2 years now have been trying to convince people that Putin is sick or is suffering dementia, got blown the fuck out. He may be suffering from a physical ailment he was able to hide, but his mind is just fine.
- Interviews that require interpreters are tedious at best. The delay allows both parties to gather their thoughts longer than they normally would and negates emotional responses that are more common.
- Tucker was out of his league. I would have paid to see John Mearsheimer be the interviewer instead of Tucker.
