Are we stuck with Biden in 2024?

Episode 133 with Zac & Gavin

Jul 21, 2023

How legit is Marianne Williamson’s shot at the presidency? Can anyone mount a significant challenge to Biden in 2024? And what are voters looking for in a Democratic presidential candidate? We’re tackling these questions with Zac & Gavin of The Vanguard, whose sharp and humorous analysis of the political landscape gives us a fresh, engaging view of the election to come. From RFK Jr.’s political blunders to Marianne’s prospects in South Carolina and beyond, we’re taking a granular look at 2024 with an eye to any potential upsets in the Democratic order. Watch below:

The frustrations and letdowns of the Biden presidency — expected, to be fair, from someone who promised wealthy supporters that “nothing will fundamentally change” — have us thinking, as always, about what it would mean to have a substantial progressive challenger going toe-to-toe with Biden this election. To that end, we break down Marianne Williamson’s presidential prospects, taking lessons from the Bernie 2020 run in order to map out her potential road to the nomination. Sanders’s victories in Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada didn’t prevent the South Carolina loss from stalling his momentum. We see the potential of Marianne’s campaign to perform better in South Carolina, but we take a wider view in our conversation of the wins her campaign will need to log in order to pose a viable alternative to Biden’s re-election.

Joined by Zac and Gavin, we consider the other challenger who’s emerged in the 2024 Democratic field — Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. — and talk through the political miscalculations we see in his campaign for the Democratic nomination. From support of Elon Musk to strong critique of Fauci — a beloved figure among Democrats — RFK Jr.’s political affiliations don’t seem poised to strike a chord with the Dem base he’s meant to appeal to. What will this mean for his campaign? We discuss all of this and more in this week’s episode. Remember that you can listen to this conversation as a podcast when it’s released tomorrow on Spotify, Substack, Pandora, Apple Podcasts, and more.

  1. What you’re going to get is Gavin Newsome, fast tracked past all other hopefuls if Biden drops out or drops dead. Why? He ticks the woke boxes and will be a good neocon puppet.
