‘Last Stand of the Hot Dog King,’

How far would you go to defend your beliefs? The Hot Dog King has more assuredly gone further. As Chris Crowley reports, hot-dog vendor Dan Rossi has spent more than a decade sleeping with his cart, parked in a prime location outside the Met’s tourist-swarmed stairs, ostensibly in the name of protecting his spot. But, of course, there’s more to this story: Rossi is convinced he’s fighting for something bigger than himself, and, win or lose, he says he’s entered the battle’s final chapter. What could drive anyone to take such an extreme stance? Chris spent a day selling franks with Rossi to find out.
