The neocons want to push Trump to the side so they can put forward a front man like Pence, De Santis, Rubio, Cotton, etc. who will assume the same role as George W. Bush,  a puppet who initiates a regime change war against Iran. Trump is a douchebag, but a useful douchebag who acts as at least a partial constraint on the neocons. We need the populist insurgency within the GOP as a counterweight to the party’s neocon leadership, and we need the progressive insurgency in the Democrats to function as an obstacle to neocon efforts to take over the Democrats.
