The imperialists know their empire is getting harder to maintain. The Trumpists seemed to be trying to outsource its maintenance to client states and allies like Israel, the Gulf States, Turkey, etc. The Bidenists will probably adopt something like the “multi-partner” approach Hillary used to push when she was Sec of State (greater reliance on international institutions, NATO, “allies,” etc.) Both amount to the same thing in practice expect the former retains the standard US unilateral position favored by the Republicans while the latter maintains the facade of “liberal internationalism” that has traditionally been favored by the Democrats.
