1. I dismissed Shapiro circa 2002 when, despite being of military age and loudly in favor of invading Iraq, he seemed quite unable to find his way to a recruiting office to enlist. Chickenhawks are the worst sort of boring.

   He’s popped up on my radar now and then ever since, but doesn’t seem to have become any more interesting — just a “try to be controversial for the sake of seeming controversial” type.

   In other words, just the kind of fake spice a bland establishment site like Politico needs to help it posture as “relevant.”
