The State is the Greatest Criminal Reply

In spite of having the world’s largest prison population and literally hundreds of thousands of laws that can lead to arrest and imprisonment, the USA has a clearance rate of 61.4% on criminal homicides as of 2019, meaning that roughly 2 in 5 murderers get away with it. The clearance rate on all other crimes is less than 50% and the clearance rate on murder in some US jurisdictions is less than 10% meaning that in those areas murder is essentially decriminalized. Washington, DC, which is more or less the modern Rome, has one of the highest crime rates in the nation. Outside the government/tourist zone, it’s basically the same as Chicago.
