It’s good to see someone from the “conservative” end of the spectrum finally admit to this:

Moreover, it proved to be entirely unnecessary, since the dissolution of the USSR and collapse of communism in Europe underscored just how irrelevant these interventions in Third World civil wars were to the outcome of the Cold War.”
