The Two Factions of Totalitarian Humanism
Lew Rockwell on the neoconservatives and Bill Anderson on the progressives. Paul Craig Roberts on the police state they have created.

Kevin Carson on a genuine military hero. When I hear someone say that soldiers “defend our freedom,” my immediate response is to gag. I think the last time American soldiers actually fought for the freedom of Americans was probably the Revolutionary War — or maybe the War of […]
The leader of Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership has died. See obituaries here and here. My only contact with Aaron was a lengthy telephone conversation about fifteen years ago, but I found him to be a highly impressive individual. JPFO’s materials are some of the most […]
So says Kevin Carson: I saw a couple of heartening news items this past week that illustrate the same principle. First, a judge in Missoula County Montana complained that it would soon likely become almost impossible to enforce anti-marijuana laws because of the increasing difficulty of seating juries. […]
Justin Raimondo takes down Michael Lind. Lind’s “new nationalism,” is, I’m afraid, the same as the “old” nationalism: a flag-waving, hysterical, ingrown doctrine of delusion and rationale for unbridled militarism. It is an ideological instrument that makes repression easier to justify, even as the epitome of an enlightened […]
Charles Murray on the new emerging ruling class. I’ve posted this here before but it’s worth reading again. (hat tip to Miles Joyner)
Good piece on Portugal’s drug policy from The Washington Post.
…To all our readers, associates, allies, and supporters. May the System continue its slow death in 2011.
by Jack Ross Originally published at Jack’s Post Right blog for The American Conservative I am admittedly late in commenting on this item on @TAC praising a new effort to unify and strengthen leftist dissent from Obama. It brings me nothing so much as an overwhelming sense of […]
by Jack Ross Originally posted at The American Conservative Richard Silverstein blogs about the most recent newspaper column of Martin van Creveld, the brilliant Israeli military historian and author of the monumental work The Rise and Decline of The State. The column is just the conventional argument that […]
by Michael Parish Originally published at A Beautiful Mind Left-Libertarianism is an ideology that seeks to hybridize the economic agenda of classical liberalism with the cultural agenda of the New Left, as such constituting a conscious return to the movement as it existed in the mid to late nineteen sixties. Therefore it appears paradoxically both radical, […]
It seems Detroit can no longer afford to provide even routine services to the whole city. No cops, no garbage collection, no schools, no street lights, nothing. Anarchy in the USA begins.
Great discussion between Lew Rockwell and Naomi Wolf. This the kind of thing that a Left/Right anarchist coalition should be about.
So says a new study. Good for the kids. Weed is less bad for you than alcohol.
Some interesting data on race and class in America. This caught my attention: Amid swirling congressional debate over taxing the wealthy, three localities in Virginia had median household income of more than $100,000 – Falls Church, and Fairfax and Loudoun counties. Those three localities are just outside of […]
In their critique of the influence of the Israel lobby over US foreign policy, Stephen Walt and John Mearsheimer identified Mortimer Zuckerman as a leading figure in the media wing of organized Zionism in the US. Zuckerman’s reply?: “”I would just say this: The allegations of this disproportionate […]
A reader recently posted these comments on a left-libertarian discussion board. These are very encouraging words (and not just because it includes praise for Yours Truly). This is the kind of genuine independent thinking we need for anarchists to engage in, rather than just being drones for this […]
Jack Ross assesses the Left-Neoconservatives of the Euston Manifesto persuasion. The Euston Manifesto is particularly important because it outlines what will be the ideological future of the Western ruling classes, i.e. neoconservative foreign policy views, the Zionist/Islamophobic paradigm, neoliberal economics, and the social agenda of the far Left. […]
An Army officer is refusing service in Afghanistan because Obama is ineligible to be commander-in-chief. I salute anyone who refuses to serve the Empire, regardless of their motivations or ideology. (hat tip to RavenWarrior)
Murray Rothbard asked the crucial question. Tom Paine’s radical hatred of the State and statism was and is far more important to the cause of liberty than the fact that he never crossed the divide between laissez-faire and anarchism. And closer to our own day, such early influences […]
COINTELPRO continues. Also, check out this piece by Naomi Wolf on the history of U.S. repression.
Richard Spencer and Wayne Lutton take down one of totalitarian humanism’s leading vanguard groups. Listen to the interview here. Read The Social Contract‘s expose here.
The dissident Left speaks. Other than the managerial-welfare state enthusiasms expressed in this, it’s a pretty good statement of opposition to the liberal-left.
This looks to be a fantastic site!
Jim Goad hits another home run. Maybe the Assange case will awaken progressives to the dangers posed by radical feminist misandry. A reasonable feminist, Naomi Wolf, weighs in on the case here and ATS contributor MRDA comes up with an appropriate term for the situation with Assange and […]
Recently, there was an interesting exchange between Paul Gottfried and myself at AlternativeRight.Com. It began when I posted a recommended reading list in response to similar lists posted by James Kalb and Richard Spencer. Paul Gottfried expressed puzzlement regarding the eclectic nature of the collection of readings I […]
Read the full interview here. This part is particularly relevant: On the League’s website, you said that you seek a peaceful means to Southern secession. Suppose The American Empire collapsed under its own weight tomorrow and the United States of America was an entity only on paper. There […]
Kevin Carson explains why. And see Carson’s “When the Government Promises It Won’t Abuse Its Powers, It’s Lying.“
So says Dave D’Amato. This seems to have provoked a bit of controversy among the libertarian-left. Also, see D’Amato’s “Corporate Welfare Disguised as Free Trade.”
Paul Gottfried is skeptical. I say it depends on which groups and individuals on the Left or Right we’re talking about.
Glad to see Lew Rockwell is promoting the work of William Domhoff.
MRDA has Huckabee summed up in one word. My guess is that Huckabee, who has a reputation as a con man even among some pockets of “movement conservatives,” is trying to bolster his law and order credentials which were rather damaged by this debacle.
The latest from Paul Craig Roberts. Some publisher somewhere needs to put out a volume (or multiple volumes) of Roberts’ columns over the past years. There is arguably no greater critic of the U.S. empire around nowadays (his closest rival is probably Eric Margolis), and nobody cuts to […]
What our civilization has become.
Read all about it here . But the real question is why these national organizations have suddenly taken such an interest in Texas, and in particular why they suddenly feel a need to use Chicago-style blackmail politics to attack an organization they have long characterized as kooks? The […]
This is an old essay of mine that was originally a grad school paper for a course on the history of American religions. What I did in this is trace how deism went from being a dissident intellectual movement among radical intellectuals in the West centuries ago to […]
I’m not sure how I feel about this particular group. They seem a bit neoconnish on the surface at least. But it’s certainly an interesting model of blurring the left/right distinction.
Here’s the Wikipedia entry for third parties in the U.S. Read it here. Question: In their current forms, all of these parties are terrible failures, and that’s not likely to change. But to what degree might these parties be a vehicle for entryism by those of us in […]
Over the past six months or so, interest in the various alternative anarchist milieus seems to have grown exponentially. The number of blogs, websites, or local affinity groups devoted to such projects has proliferated to the point where I can no longer keep track of them all. It […]
Thanks to Jeremy for digging up this piece from David Graeber. As an anthropologist and active participant—particularly in the more radical, direct-action end of the movement—I may be able to clear up some common points of misunderstanding; but the news may not be gratefully received. Much of the […]
Don’t take your book tour overseas, George. Remember Pinochet.
Eric Margolis sums up the situation very well. For the entire twenty-five years of my political activism and writing, I have considered the defeat of the American empire to be the most pressing political question. Now, it finally seems to be happening. The empire is essentially bankrupt, and […]
Walter Williams on the latest manifestation of the therapeutic state. Notice that the proponents of the therapeutic state seem to be the most extreme and deeply entrenched in those regions of the U.S. where the general totalitarian humanist ideology is also the most influential. As totalitarian humanism advances, […]
from Jack Ross at The American Conservative. For those unfamiliar with Dwight MacDonald, be sure to look him up. He was one of the great American anarchists. Also, check out Jack’s new book on the anti-Zionist tradition within American liberal Judaism.
Read all about it here, here, here, and here. This guy has the right attitude.
Soon enough articles like this will probably be illegal in England.
Unbelievable.
A hero of anti-imperialism has also passed.
A hero of anti-statism has passed.
