From the Atlantic. A thorough overview of the much-maligned militant-Muslim Männerbund. What is the Islamic State? Where did it come from, and what are its intentions? The simplicity of these questions can be deceiving, and few Western leaders seem to know the answers. In December, The New York […]
Islam, immigration, and interventionism. I’ll be incorporating a response to the Ann-xieties expressed here (and elsewhere) into a future Infernal episode. There’s a lot of raspberrying and dismissiveness in the debate over whether to let the wave of “Syrian” “refugees” wash up on U.S. shores. In the partisan […]
In a better world, Paul would be POTUS. (In an >even< better world, the concept of a POTUS – and other national equivalents – would remain just that.)
By John McWhorter Opposition to racism used to be a political stance. Now it has every marking of a religion, with both good and deleterious effects on American society. An anthropology article from 1956 used to get around more than it does now, “Body Ritual Among the Nacirema.” […]
By Aleksey Bashtavenko Attitudes toward hierarchies shed light on fundamental differences between the left and the right. The latter tend to be skeptical of them and for this reason, leftists often rally around the value of equality. On the other hand, the right views hierarchies as desirable […]
The Princess of Pessimism, Ann Sterzinger, on labour and…er, labour. 1,950 words A few months back, publisher Chip Smith asked me to write a new intro for the upcoming second edition of my 2011 novel NVSQVAM. To write the essay I had to rethink my protagonist, Lester Reichartsen, […]

Atlantic article from January. Thoughtful overview of Dar al-Islam in the land of the Gauls. Also, rather refreshing to see a mainstreamer who can tell the fucking difference between liberty and democracy! The impressive and inspiring show of solidarity at France’s unity march on January 11—which brought together […]
A reply to “Anti-Fascist News“: An uninformed lay person reading the pathetically ignorant and barely literate bromide against Attack the System recently issued by “Anti-Fascist News” would hardly know anarchism is a vast tradition in modern political philosophy with roots in the radical Enlightenment more than two centuries […]
I tell you, this Keith Preston guy is bad ass, whoever he is. Says professional “anti-fascist” Mike Issacson: “Another NPI speaker Keith Preston, also ends up largely in the same place as Faye and the others, but in his own fake anarchist way. For Preston, the end result […]
Here we have the edifying spectacle of an anarchist equating Hollywood liberal and militant atheist Bill Maher with General Franco. My take? This insults the memory of the many anarchists (and many others) who died or suffered horribly for resisting the totalitarian regimes, left and right, of the […]

A Social Justice Warrior makes her case. Theoretically, one could be a full and committed Social Justice Warrior and simultaneously be a pan-anarchist or tactical pan-secessionist, as I have previously articulated elsewhere. However, as we know, it usually doesn’t work that way. Yet an interesting development that I […]
By Conor Friedersdorf The Atlantic Professor Nicholas Christakis lives at Yale, where he presides over one of its undergraduate colleges. His wife Erika, a lecturer in early childhood education, shares that duty. They reside among students and are responsible for shaping residential life. And before Halloween, some students […]

By Jonathan Chait New York Magazine The student protest at the University of Missouri began as a response to a serious problem — outbursts of vile racism on campus — and quickly devolved into an expression of a renewed left-wing hostility to freedom of expression. At the protest […]

A raunchily revisionist review by Ann Sterzinger. Sheds more light on the Conflict Without Heroes that was World War II. __________________ Is present-day Paris more puritanical than it was under the Nazis? I’d love to simply dwell on the jaunty visual attractiveness—not to mention the entertainment and historical […]

The Infernal take on “Columbus Day”. _________________ Yesterday yielded another round of commotion regarding the infamous Christopher Columbus, designated “discoverer” of the so-called “New World” (Leif Erikson moans from Midgard!). No doubt, the less-than-vocal majority of Statesiders were simply thrilled to get a day off from work; the […]

An unapologetically Nietzschean take on the refugee crisis. By Dr. Robert M. Price Thus Spake Zarathustra I have read two books that turned out to be truly prophetic. Not clairvoyant, mind you, just prescient. The authors were like Isaac Asimov’s futurologist Hari Seldon in his Foundation epic: they […]
Ann Sterzinger asks the question at RightOn, spotlighting how the clash in the feminist worldview between “Enlightenment Person” and “Mommy Goddess” curtails any meaningful criticism of the more predatory and illiberal residents of Dar al-Islam. I notice the bifurcation a lot in abortion debates, where feminists talk about […]
From The Metro. The tragicomedy writes itself! Also, this is the most media coverage I’ve seen Sylvanian Families receive in decades. ________ An exhibition celebrating freedom of expression has become the unlikely victim of censorship – after an artwork which showed Sylvanian Families being terrorised by ISIS […]
By Aleksey Bashtavenko “There is no progress in human history. Democracy is a fraud. Human nature is primitive, emotional, unyielding. Some humor for the day. The wacky world of anarchist comic books. SJWs Anarchist are a parody of self-parody.
This includes an interesting discussion of Angelo Codevilla’s theory of the ruling class. I have my differences with Codevilla (mostly because he’s too partisan right-leaning and not nearly radical enough), but his perspective is worth checking out, although I would suggest doing so within the context of a […]
It looks like the Sanders campaign might actually be exposing some cracks in the PC coalition, i.e. between the neo-liberal but culturally leftist Hillaryites, the social democratic labor leftist Sandersites, and the identify politics-intersectionality oriented far Left. If you do not read any thing else that is posted on ATS this year, read this. By Larry Gambone Political Correctness was around for many years before the mass media caught on. It is definitely not an invention of the late 1980’s as many people seem to […]
This post is a bit dated, and seems to have been written in the 1990s, but the comparison is certainly relevant in the present era. Progressives and the Christian right are not normally thought to resemble each other. Certainly they don’t like each other. But since I’ve observed […]
By Justin Raimondo Antiwar.Com Wesley Clark, the retired general who almost started World War III with Russia, has a bright idea: why not set up internment camps for “radicalized” Americans in order to stanch the threat of domestic terrorism? Yes, he actually said this, and, what’s more, MSNBC […]

Who better to fight the PC moralists than Dave Chappelle? By Nick Gillespie Reason A decade ago that Dave Chappelle was the hottest comedian on the planet. His Comedy Central show created riffs and routines (“I’m Rick James, bitch“) that still haunt the ether like old radio transmissions […]
By Tom Nichols The Federalist There’s a basic difference in the traditions of political science between “authoritarians” and “totalitaritarians.” People throw both of these words around, but as is so often the case, they’re using words they may not always understand. They have real meaning, however, and the […]
Read the story and watch the video here. On one hand, it looks like this guy was doing more than merely burning a flag that he happened to own. He apparently stole the flag from neighbors. So he’s at least guilty of trespassing, theft, and destruction of property. […]
As I have been saying for the past fifteen years. On the question of totalitarian humanism, one can theoretically be a cultural far leftist without being a totalitarian humanist, just as in past times one could advocate social justice for the working class without being a Marxist-Leninist. And […]

For a number of years now, I have attacked sectors of the anarchist milieu for either explicitly or implicitly failing to distinguish between anarchism (a stateless anti-authoritarian society) and what I call “totalitarian humanism” (an all pervasive state that ostensibly rules in the name of enforcing “progressive” values, […]
