Breaking the myths told by progressives.

Canada has long been seen as an ultra liberal state. This has only been the case since the 1960’s. The Canadian State was historically very strict on it’s immigration policy, had strong Loyalist sentiment toward the Crown, and recognized the Catholic and Protestant philosophies as integral to social cohesion.
The Canadian State before the 1960’s did in fact represent the Canadian Nation first and foremost. Even Liberal PM William Lyon Mackenzie King was explicit in the need to control immigration from beyond the British Isles or France. “The people of Canada do not wish as a result of mass immigration to make a fundamental alteration in the character of our population. Large scale immigration from the Orient would change the fundamental composition of the Canadian population“.
Canada was founded by two reactionary nations: French Monarchists, and British Loyalists. To put it in a nutshell; the settlers of New France where devout Catholic Monarchists, expanding the French Empire. The Anglo-Canadians are mainly descendants of British Loyalists who left the 13 Colonies after the American Revolution. They where granted land to settle by the Crown in what is now Canada in order to found a home for Loyalists in the New World.

Our founding story of nationhood is the War of 1812. A defensive war which was won by the various facets of these nations coming together to form a bulwark against Liberal Republicanism. Canadians boast about the burning of the White House. Critics are quick to point out that it was British regulars who marched on D.C. However this actually furthers the point of Canadian Nationalists. Being a Canadian, was the same as being British at that time. The Canadian Militias where Fencible regiments of the British Army. Many current Canadian Army regiments where at one point British Army regiments which where raised to defend the Loyalist colony of Canada. Canadians are able to understand they as a nation, are children of the British Empire the exact same way Australians, and New Zealanders are.

Confederation was pursued after the Fenian Raids, and fear of another American invasion was very real. This was also a strong argument for the Canadian Pacific Railway, and the Rideau Canal. These two of Canada’s earliest mega projects had militaristic motivations behind them. Canada’s Royal Canadian Mounted Police is modeled after French ‘Gendarmeries’ which are Military Police units which police civilian populations. Although the RCMP nor it’s predecessor the NWMP where/are military units, they are absolutely paramilitary, the RCMP has battle honours on it’s Guidon. Militarism has been imbedded in the Canadian collective unconscious since before Confederation.

Firearms ownership among civilians has always been high in Canada. Canadians have relied on hunting for survival, and have had to use their personal weapons as Fencible Militiamen to defend their homes. All this without legalisms. It goes to show how far control of the Canadian State has drifted away from the Canadian Nation when the state cannot intuitively understand the necessity and tradition of civilian firearms ownership. I long for the day I can own an FN C1.

It is unfortunate the Canadian State is now completely against the values of Peace, Order, & Good Governance of the Canadian Nation.
