Immigration in America has been surging. The size of the foreign-born population has never been bigger. According to the Pew Research Center, the number of immigrants who were in the U.S. illegally grew to 14 million in 2023. A Census Bureau study suggests that the total population of immigrants in the U.S. in 2025 (including those who immigrated either legally and illegally) topped 53 million. Many Americans are uneasy about this. Should they be?
