The New York Times reports that Trump is bringing in Palantir founder and billionaire mega-donor Peter Thiel to compile a master list of personal information on every American.1
Trump has spent his second term relentlessly targeting political opponents. This giant data harvesting project will give Trump even more power to surveil and harass the people that oppose his extreme agenda. And a $30 million contract with Palantir will give ICE a sweeping spying tool to deploy against immigrants in its violent crackdowns.2
Demand Progress has spent over a decade fighting mass surveillance in America — taking on Big Tech companies like Palantir, powerful billionaires like Thiel, and administrations abusing their powers like the Trump White House. While we ramp up our campaign to stop Trump’s master database, we need your support.

The Times said Trump’s scheme could leave him with “untold surveillance power.”4
Our democracy and the civil liberties of all Americans are under serious threat. We’ve seen that every day of the Trump administration and we see it even more as troops, ICE agents, and police detain, attack, and shoot rubber bullets and tear gas at protesters in Los Angeles.
If we don’t mobilize against this plan, the White House will amass unprecedented powers and a detailed look into our individual lives. Trump would have all the information he needs to threaten, persecute, attack, and punish his political enemies.
With gratitude,
The team at Demand Progress Action
