| We are proud to announce The Nation has a new addition to our slate of regular programs: The Nation Podcast with host and Nation editor D.D. Guttenplan as your guide to each month’s print edition. The new signature show will crack the cover of the magazine to offer a behind-the-scenes look at the making of—and reporting for—each issue. Building on our existing roster of award-winning, thought-provoking programming, the interview series will feature insightful conversations about politics, technology, economics, culture, books and the arts, foreign policy, and more, with a rotating cast of Nation columnists, writers, and contributors.
“We had so much fun getting deep into the weeds on See How They Run,” says Guttenplan, referring to the magazine’s election season podcast offering “horse-race coverage—from the left.” “The Nation Podcast is a natural expansion of that endeavor,” he continued, “and a chance to steer listeners towards some of the most vivid reporting, sophisticated analysis, and best-informed cultural criticism and commentary out there.
In Episode 1, we hear from Vincent Bevins, who spent several years traveling across Brazil to interview members of the Landless Workers’ Movement—known as MST—the radical Marxist group that remains “the most respected social movement in the world” for his May Nation cover story, “This Land Is Our Land.”
For Episode 2, contributing writer Bryce Covert builds on her important and ongoing investigations into sexual harassment at McDonald’s—raising serious questions about the effectiveness of new global anti-harassment brand standards for her feature, “McDonald’s Made a Commitment to Prevent Sexual Harassment—What Happened?”
New episodes air three times a month. Subscribe to The Nation’s podcast channel wherever you get your podcasts, and check out our other regular programming here. |
