Former pro wrestler, Governor of Minnesota, Green Party candidate, and alum of the show Jesse Ventura joins us again as we reflect on lessons learned and unlearned from the DNC, corruption in America’s so-called two-party system, the struggles of third-party presidential runs, and more. Watch the exclusive interview below:
That’s a wrap on the DNC. Most notably, Harris/Walz basked in party support and honored “family” as a recurring theme of the convention, bringing out longstanding party figures like the Obamas and Clintons and celebrating a renewal of energy in a party that seemed, as of June, like it’d be white-knuckling a Biden-led convention. But at the same time, a movement of Uncommitted organizers, supporting a free Palestine and a ceasefire in Gaza, was ignored as it demanded a Palestinian speaker to address the gravity of the genocide and the U.S.’s role in its continuation. Hopeful left-of-center, antizionist Democrats have largely banked on Kamala being more amenable to such demands than Biden, who proudly touted the label of most pro-Israel president and refused to draw any red line as horrors continued (and continue) to unfold. But Kamala’s actions at the convention don’t inspire much hope, even as they may come at a cost when voters seek a candidate willing to stand up to Israel and end the violence.
Our guest this week, Jesse Ventura, former star wrestler, Governor of Minnesota, and Green Party presidential candidate, talks about the collusion between Dems and Republicans, his electoral history, the corruption of money in politics, and the shortcomings of third-party runs in the current presidential election cycle. He’s been on the show before to discuss these issues, and we’re excited to have him back years on to discuss how the rigamarole of American party politics has evolved (or devolved) since then. Thanks for tuning in! You can listen to this podcast tomorrow on Spotify, Pandora, Apple Podcasts, and more.
