The video provides insight into the chaotic minutes leading up to the attempted assassination of the former president and raises questions about the preparedness of law enforcement regarding the building. “Look, they’re all pointing. Someone’s on top of the roof,” a person says as at least one law enforcement officer walks around the building. “There he is, right there. Right there, see him? He’s laying down.” Another person appears to gesture to the officer, “He’s on the roof … right here, right on the roof.”

Cops at the scene noticed Crooks, 20, clambering into place in plain sight just 130 yards away from the rally stage and took two photos of him because he was acting suspiciously, sources told WPXI. Meanwhile a counter-sniper team was inside the building that was being used as a “watch post” during the event when Crooks pulled the trigger, The New York Post reported.

Local counter-sniper team was inside building where Trump shooter climbed on the roof and opened fire – sources | 15 July 2024 | A local police counter-sniper team was stationed inside the building where attempted assassin Thomas Crooks climbed on the roof and fired on Donald Trump, law enforcement sources told The Post. The building — the AGR International Inc. factory in Butler, Pennsylvania — was being used by local police as a “watch post” for snipers to scan for threats as the former president spoke onstage only 130 yards away, according to sources. Cops were inside, but not on the roof during the shooting, sources said. Crooks was able to scale the building unchallenged before firing off eight shots with an AR-style assault rifle, grazing Trump in the ear, killing one Trump supporter and wounding two others.

Alleged Trump shooter spotted by law enforcement nearly 30 minutes before shots fired, sources say | 15 July 2024 | Channel 11 News uncovered dramatic new details Monday in the moments leading up to the assassination attempt on former president Donald Trump. According to multiple law enforcement sources, Thomas Crooks was spotted by law enforcement on a roof nearly 30 minutes before shots were fired that injured Trump, killed a former fire chief and injured two others in the crowd. Channel 11’s Nicole Ford confirmed that Beaver County’s ESU team had eight members at the rally, including snipers and spotters. According to Ford’s sources, one of them noticed a suspicious man on a roof near the rally at 5:45 p.m., called it in and took a picture of the person. We have learned from our sources the person in that picture is Thomas Crooks. We’re told it’s not clear if Crooks had a gun with him at that point.

Secret Service did not sweep rooftop where Trump shooter was found, source says | 15 July 2024 | A Secret Service source confirmed to Scripps News that the agency did not sweep the rooftop from which a gunman shot at former President Donald Trump Saturday, saying it was up to local law enforcement to secure that building. The shooter, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, gained access to the rooftop of a building nearly 150 yards from where Trump was speaking to a rally crowd in Butler, Pennsylvania. The Secret Service source’s statement to Scripps News confirms that the building was a blind spot in the security radar, but the source says it was up to local law enforcement to sweep it, as it was outside of the perimeter that the agency would secure. But in a statement to Scripps News, a spokesperson for the Pennsylvania State Police said the department provided “all resources” that the Secret Service requested for Trump’s rally, including 30 to 40 troopers who helped secure the inside perimeter, but that it “was not responsible for securing” the building or the property on which it resides.

Top police group blasts Secret Service for blaming local cops for Trump assassination attempt | 15 July 2024 | The nation’s largest police group on Monday night blasted the Secret Service for trying to shift blame for the weekend assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump in Butler, Pa., to local police. “Whatever happened in Butler, this was not a failure of the local, state, or federal officers on the ground who responded to the shots fired at former President Trump, they acted heroically and put their lives on the line to protect everyone else at the event. We must recognize that,” Fraternal Order of Police President Patrick Yoes said. “This is a failure at the management or command level who failed to secure an obvious weakness in the security of this event.” Yoes warned that Secret Service efforts to push blame down to local police for failing to secure a building rooftop used by the shooter would be counterproductive, especially with so many campaign events ahead in the election that will require local, state and federal officials to cooperate.

Gunman bought ammo at Bethel Park gun store hours before deadly shooting at Trump rally, sources say –Shooter bought 50 rounds before the assassination attempt | 15 July 2024 | The gunman who attempted to assassinate Donald Trump purchased 50 rounds of ammunition at Allegheny Arms and Gun Works in Bethel Park hours before the former president’s rally in Butler on Saturday, the Post-Gazette has learned. In a message to the PG, a spokesperson for Allegheny Arms wrote: “As a responsible member of our community it is our prerogative to cooperate with law enforcement in every way. We are thankful that President Trump was not assassinated and our hearts and prayers go out to all victims of this horrible incident…” The gun store is complying with all requests from law enforcement, sources said. Officials say Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, took his shots with an AR-style 5.56-caliber rifle from the roof of a building about 150 yards from where Trump was speaking, killing 50-year-old Corey Comperatore, injuring David Dutch, 57, and James Copenhaver, 74, and leaving the former president bloodied and ducking for cover.

The company said Crooks was a student at Bethel Park High School and appeared in the 2022 ad with other unpaid teens. “In 2022, we ran an ad featuring a teacher from Bethel Park High School, in which several unpaid students briefly appeared in the background, including Thomas Matthew Crooks,” the company said in a statement to Reuters Sunday, adding that the ad has been pulled. The 30-second BlackRock TV ad features an AP and honors economics class that Crooks attended at the time, with the would-be Trump assassin speaking with his teacher.

Bandaged Trump defiantly appears at RNC 2024 just days after dodging assassin’s bullet | 15 July 2024 | Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump made an appearance Monday at the GOP convention, two days after he was left bloodied by a sniper’s bullet. Most of the 78-year-old former president’s right ear was seen wrapped in a bandage when he emerged at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee. Trump strolled onto the convention floor as Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA” blared in the background. The former president pumped his fist, gave several thumbs up and clapped as he joined his running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), and members of his family seated near the stage.

Trump names Ohio Sen. JD Vance, 39, as his 2024 VP pick | 15 July 2024 | Former President Donald Trump has chosen freshman Ohio Sen. JD Vance to serve as his VP in his bid to return to the White House, ending months of speculation about whom he would select for his No. 2. “…I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of the Great State of Ohio,” Trump announced on Truth Social on Monday afternoon. “J.D. honorably served our Country in the Marine Corps, graduated from Ohio State University in two years, Summa Cum Laude, and is a Yale Law School Graduate, where he was Editor of The Yale Law Journal, and President of the Yale Law Veterans Association.”

Jack Smith to appeal Cannon dismissal of Trump classified docs case | 15 July 2024 | Special counsel [and Grade ‘A’ sociopath] Jack Smith is expected to appeal Judge Aileen Cannon’s dismissal of a classified documents case against former President Donald Trump. No timeline for Smith’s appeal has been given so far, but it is expected to go to the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. However, the case could eventually reach the Supreme Court. Cannon sided with Supreme Court Clarence Thomas on Monday when dismissing the federal case, claiming there was no federal statute cited by the Justice Department that authorized Smith’s appointment by Attorney General Merrick Garland. This would mean Smith has no authority to prosecute the case.

Judge dismisses Trump’s classified documents case, rules special counsel unlawfully appointed | 15 July 2024 | The federal judge overseeing Donald Trump’s classified documents case in the Southern District of Florida dismissed the case Monday on constitutional grounds. “The Superseding Indictment is DISMISSED because Special Counsel Smith’s appointment violates the Appointments Clause of the United States Constitution,” Judge Aileen Cannon wrote in her order granting Trump’s motion to dismiss. The judge ruled that no federal statute cited by the Justice Department authorized the appointment of Special Counsel Jack Smith by the Attorney General, meaning he has no authority to prosecute the case.

No Justice for Unvaccinated Cops | 8 July 2024 | Two years after the Covid mandates ended, the West Australian Police Force has fired nearly twenty unvaccinated police officers and public servants for refusing to get the jabs. A legal challenge against the mandates, brought by WA Police officer Ben Falconer and staff member Les Finlay, had previously secured an injunction preventing the force from firing unvaccinated staff until the matter had been settled in the courts. However, a Supreme Court ruling that then-WA Police Commissioner Chris Dawson’s Covid vaccination directive was “valid and lawful” brought an end to the injunction in April. WA Police announced the resumption of disciplinary action against 17 affected employees immediately after the hearing, with all 12 police officers and five staff having now been sacked.

Gavin Newsom has signed a law barring school districts from passing policies that require schools to notify parents if their child asks to change their gender identification. The law bans rules requiring school staff to disclose a student’s gender identity or sexual orientation to any other person without the child’s permission. The new law comes after several school districts in California passed policies requiring that parents be notified if a child requests to change their gender identification.
