You may have heard about something called a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC).
It sounds boring, which is just how the lizard people like it.
But it’s definitely something you and I, and the rest of the awake (not “woke”; those people are asleep) community, need to keep an eye on.
My general instinct when faced with something I’m not initially super informed about is to see what my more-informed friends have to say. In particular, I want to know: what is the Mises Institute’s take?
Well, here’s one, from just a couple of months ago:
The Federal Reserve is sowing the seeds for its central bank digital currency (CBDC). It may seem that the purpose of a CBDC is to facilitate transactions and enhance economic activity, but CBDCs are mainly about more government control over individuals. If a CBDC were implemented, the central bank would have access to all transactions in addition to being capable of freezing accounts.
It may seem dystopian—something that only totalitarian governments would do—but there have been recent cases of asset freezing in Canada and Brazil. Moreover, a CBDC would give the government the power to determine how much a person can spend, establish expiration dates for deposits, and even penalize people who saved money. [Emphasis added.]
Well, that doesn’t sound good.
The move toward CBDCs is also a subset of the more general war on cash. The world’s regimes dislike cash, because cash transactions are essentially impossible to trace. They don’t want you to be untraceable.
I, on the other hand, rather like being untraceable when I can.
You’ve probably gotten the message recently that I want to do more than just write outraged articles about things. I am building a community of people who want to do something about the problems we face.
In that spirit, I wholeheartedly endorse what my friend John Bush is doing to show people how they can transact outside this crazy system and defeat any such novel monetary system.
John is not just writing articles about the problem. He’s holding a five-day challenge, teaching something actionable each day. He isn’t charging for it, either.
He’s already in the middle of it, but all the replays will be available for you if you jump on it ASAP:
