Last lifelines are collapsing in Gaza

Israel’s atrocities against the civilian population of Gaza are reaching horrific new levels.

The head of the United Nations says the “last lifelines” are collapsing in Gaza as Netanyahu continues enforcing a near-total humanitarian blockade.1 At least 33 Palestinians, including 12 children, died from starvation in a 48-hour period.2 And Sunday was the deadliest day for aid seekers in Gaza: Israel killed 85 Palestinians waiting for food and water at humanitarian aid sites.3

This is all happening while enough food to feed every person in Gaza sits in UN warehouses just out of reach,4 stopped by Netanyahu’s blockade. Israel is using starvation as a weapon of war in a deliberate and ongoing effort to erase the Palestinian population of Gaza.

Demand Progress Action has mobilized tens of thousands of people to call for an end to U.S. support for Israel’s military, and with Gaza on the brink of total destruction, we must urgently ramp up our efforts.

Israel is gunning down Gazans in desperate need of food, water, and medical attention while children die of starvation. This is what the U.S. government supports when it continues to send funding and weapons to Netanyahu’s regime.

“Open the gates, lift the siege, allow UNRWA to do its work and help people in need among them 1 million children,” said the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees.5 But Netanyahu and Trump haven’t moved an inch to change course and end what Amnesty International and UN experts are calling a genocide.

On the “deadliest day” for Gazans in need of food and water, aid trucks entering Gaza “encountered large crowds of civilians anxiously waiting to access desperately needed food supplies.” But then, when innocent people were about to get the food that their families needed to survive another day, “the surrounding crowd came under fire from Israeli tanks, snipers and other gunfire.”6

Israel just announced new evacuation orders, displacing desperate Palestinians yet again and putting them at greater risk.7 Airstrikes continue. Gaza is on the precipice of mass starvation. Demand Progress will not stop the urgent pressure campaign to end U.S. support for Israel’s wanton violence and humanitarian blockade.

Please donate whatever you can to support our work, including our efforts to change U.S. policy and end the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

With gratitude,

The team at Demand Progress Action
