One of our readers, “John S.,” raises what might be the most pertinent questions regarding the future of anarchism, and the other ideas we discuss here at ATS. I think if anarchy became significantly popular, and actually started to effect politics, economics and/or social issues, it would be […]
By John McWhorter Opposition to racism used to be a political stance. Now it has every marking of a religion, with both good and deleterious effects on American society. An anthropology article from 1956 used to get around more than it does now, “Body Ritual Among the Nacirema.” […]

A recent lecture by Chomsky. Presented by Haymarket Books and the Schools of Public Engagement (http://www.newschool.edu/public-engag…) at The New School (http://www.newschool.edu), Noam Chomsky discusses the persistent and largely invariant features of U.S. foreign policy — in the words of U.S. planners, “the overall framework of order” — and […]
Ian Mayes recently offered the following comments: I have a theory that in about 20 years, if not sooner, the word “anarchist” will primarily be associated with the anarcho-capitalists. This is because the anarcho-capitalists are very vocal and persistent in claiming to be anarchists, especially on the internet. […]
