With voting having kicked off domestically on Monday, myths, misinformation and some realistic concerns are swirling around our online space. We take a look at some of the claims doing the rounds.

🇰🇵📡 North Korea’s vaunted spy satellite launch ended as it began: with a big bang. The Monday carrier rocket launch exploded in-flight during its first stage. Pyongyang’s aerospace tech team is about to have a terrible Tuesday.
🇮🇱🇺🇸 President Joe Biden has requested that Israel do its best to avoid civilian casualties in Rafah. The call, which is likely to be heeded as well as an ICJ order, followed Sunday airstrikes in the city that killed dozens of Palestinians.
🇻🇦🏳️‍🌈 Pope Francis has reportedly used a highly derogatory word describing LGBTQI+ people during a meeting. During the closed-door session with Italian bishops, the Pope said – according to Italian media – that gay people should not be permitted to become priests.
🧑‍💻🔨 Hacker group RansomHub claims it has stolen personal data of Christie’s auction house clients. After a cyberattack, a “sample” of client information was released online, along with a countdown timer to the presumed release of remaining names in early June.

SPORTS HIGHLIGHTS
⚽ A Spanish judge ordered soccer ruling bodies Fifa and Uefa to halt their opposition to a parallel European competition known as the European Super League, ruling that they were practising anticompetitive behaviour and abusing their dominant position.

💉The Athletics Integrity Unit has suspended sprinter Issamade Asinga for four years for a doping violation. Asinga, who represents Suriname, tested positive for prohibited metabolites during an out-of-competition test, a month after he set his junior 100m world record of 9.89 seconds.

🏉 The Springboks and captain Siya Kolisi received the Team of the Year and Sportsman of the Year awards respectively at the African Union Sports Council Region 5 Sports Awards in Lusaka, Zambia.
