Corporate data brokers are selling our private, personal information to the government and law enforcement agencies — in violation of our civil liberties and constitutional rights to privacy.
This means that corporations like Twitter/X, and owners like Elon Musk, are profiting from the sale of our data to the federal government.1
Congress can take action now to stop this unconstitutional practice and strengthen our democratic institutions by passing the Fourth Amendment is Not For Sale Act.
Add your name: Urge Congress to rein in warrantless government spying now!
There’s no question about it, various government agencies including branches of the military have refused to respect Americans’ right to privacy.
The Fourth Amendment protects us from unreasonable search and seizure, meaning law enforcement needs a warrant to investigate alleged crimes. But when the government purchases this data from data brokers, the government bypasses the constitutional protections courts have upheld over and over again.
Congress must take action in these final weeks of 2024 and end this unlawful government spying.
Thanks for taking action,
Joey and the team at Demand Progress
