| Hello, Insiders. Steve Jobs used to talk about how humans are one of the slowest animals on the planet — that is, until you put them on a bicycle. And he’d talk about the computer as a “bicycle for the mind.” That’s how I’m thinking about AI right now.
That doesn’t mean it’s not scary. Everyone’s talking about ChatGPT — and it seems to be coming for jobs in tech, media, finance, and more. (See our full list here.) There are concerns about misinformation, and schools are starting to ban it. But at the same time, we’ve seen some exciting uses for AI in markets and investing, memory, and helping transform small businesses.
It’s like the new calculator, and we’re all students who will one day learn how to use it. And eventually, we’ll be thrilled to not have to do long division by hand. What’s your stance on it? Let me know: insidertoday@insider.com. We’ll be featuring your replies in our Saturday edition.
