Another Grimy Week for Trump
Trump Humiliated a Submissive Mainstream Media at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner →
Last week, the White House Correspondents’ Dinner had a redo after April’s event was upended by a shoot-out. Instead of the humor we usually are witness to at these dinners, “Trump resorted to racism and homophobia,” writes Jeet Heer. Shocker.

Meanwhile, as Bryce Covert reported this week, Trump is about to harm Head Start by proposing a rule that would exclude immigrant children, de-standardize the way the program is deployed across states and counties, and eliminate existing rules for child-teacher ratios.

Historically, Head Start has been a life-changing program. But Covert writes: “Head Start teachers work with some of the nation’s most vulnerable children and report that since the pandemic children have presented with such significant needs that they struggle to serve children under the program’s existing ratios.” In other words, things are dire.
