NY Times: FBI and IRS joining forces to crush resistance to Trump

The New York Times just reported that the FBI and the IRS are joining forces on a draconian new crackdown on progressive nonprofits that oppose Trump’s agenda.1

This is authoritarianism in action, but we are not backing down.

This Saturday, Americans will come together at more than 3,000 No Kings rallies all over the country to speak with one voice and tell the world that we have NO KINGS and NO THRONES in America.2

According to The New York Times and other outlets, the FBI and the IRS criminal division are teaming up on a concerted effort to ramp up investigations under NSPM-7, the Trump executive order directing federal law enforcement to investigate individuals and organizations as alleged “domestic terrorists” based on their political beliefs.3

On a recent conference call, a top Justice Department official demanded that prosecutors “go big and go loud” in their enforcement of NSPM-7 and “attack the funding” of progressive groups.4

This is just the latest iteration of Donald Trump’s authoritarian rampage. Illegal wars. Unconstitutional prosecutions. Journalists arrested. Free and fair elections under attack.

We refuse to roll over and allow him to take our freedoms. That’s why the stakes are so high for next Saturday’s No Kings Day. It’s not enough for these rallies to be big. They need to be massive and everywhere.

But turning out crowds for events this size is a huge undertaking, and everything we’re doing relies on your support.
