Kudos to this dad for helping to unlock his son’s impressive talent.
Joseph, a dad from Dublin, Ireland says he started drawing and painting in the evenings about a year ago to help him unwind from work. It’s a great idea, because adult coloring has been shown to have a ton of positive mental health effects. Plus, it’s fun! But one unintended and adorable side effect of Joseph’s coloring was that his young son, Philip, decided he wanted to emulate him.
Philip had always loved coloring but, Joseph says, “I had to get him some pastels, and he started trying on the same drawings as I did,” Joseph says. “I found it absolutely adorable when he was seriously repeating the same movements as me: cleaning the tips of the pastels, blend the edges of colors, etc.”
One thing quickly became apparent: Philip was much, much better than his old man.
“Reassure me. What crazy things have your kids done at school?”
Kids say the darndest things. And sometimes, it requires a talking to from the teacher. Most parents have gotten a phone call from school to discuss their child’s faux pas, including Reddit user u/sstr677. To get some support from fellow parents, she shared with r/Parenting: “What is the most embarrassing teacher talk you have had to have?”
She followed up with a hilarious story that happened with her daughter. “I am currently feeling horrified because when I went to pick up my 3 year old daughter from pre-k, I was pulled aside to have a talk. I was told that during lunch, the teacher asked for everyone’s favorite food. My daughter’s response was ‘deez nuts’, something she has undoubtedly picked up from her older brother and his friends.”
Mother Nature’s weirdos bring unending delight to oddity-lovers everywhere.
Many of us see birds every day and don’t give them much thought, but as 1 out of 3 Americans consider themselves “birdwatchers,” it’s clear our feathered friends pique a lot of people’s interest. Maybe it’s our ongoing fascination with the mechanics of flying. Maybe it’s the diversity of bird song ranging from lovely melody to annoying alarm clock. Maybe it’s beautiful colors and patterns of their feathers.
Or maybe it’s that among the beautiful and majestic birds in the world there are also some oddballs, just absolutely bizarre-looking bird species who seem more like cartoon characters than actual animals. Ever see a bird you just can’t look away from because it’s so strange? You’re about to.
Here are 12 bird species that seem too weird to exist but actually do.
Staffordshire Bull Terriers are one of the breeds often mistaken for an American pit bull but both are a cross between bulldogs and different types of terriers but they’re not the same dogs. Both dog breeds have large block heads and that famous “smile” but they have height, weight, and coat color differences. But one big thing they have in common is their goofy personalities.
Owners of one of these muscular love bugs never know what kind of dramatics they’re going to get when they choose them as a pet. You may wind up with a dog that prefers jammies and snuggles over chasing a ball or one that likes to pretend their legs are broken every time it’s time for a walk. These dogs will keep you laughing while simultaneously making you scratch your head.
