The thing with Desantis was that he didn’t have the substance or the personality to carry him long-term. He rose to prominence as the big anti-covid regulations governor, and once the pandemic was over, he pivoted to being the anti-woke governor. He needs a hot-button culture war issue to be relevant and that’s not even enough to carry you to a general election.
