Dr. Mustafa Barghouti is a Palestinian medical doctor and politician in the West Bank. Mustafa founded and is currently the General Secretary of the Palestinian National Initiative (PNI) which is one of the handful of political parties in Palestine. In 2005, Mustafa Barghouti ran to succeed Yasser Arafat as President of the Palestinian National Authority. He became the main challenger to Mahmoud Abbas. In 2010 Dr Barghouti was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.
