DeSantis, Carroll, & Neely

• Florida’s Ron DeSantis signed a law to cover up records of his travel and visitors ahead of an anticipated 2024 presidential run.
• E. Jean Carroll might sue Donald Trump for defamation a third time, her lawyer said, after Trump called Carroll’s allegations “fake” in a CNN town hall. More here.

Elon Musk’s successor

The identity of this person is a mystery. Musk fueled speculation by referring to the candidate as “she.” Company insiders think “she” might be the current trust and safety boss, Ella Irwin. Media observers think it could be NBCU’s global ads and partnerships boss, Linda Yaccarino, who’s expressed an interest in the job. The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal also reported Thursday that Yaccarino was in talks for the gig.

A third and, let’s face it, equally likely option is that it’s a prank. But Musk always said he planned to give up the top job — and whoever takes over will need steely resolve.

CEOs, ChatGPT, & more

• CEOs are rapidly switching directions. They’re changing corporate strategies much more frequently than before. Many factors feed into this: a shaky economy, the sudden rise of AI, and even the sped-up business pace. But CEOs themselves are also to blame.
