With the rise of the Great Resignation and “quiet quitting” over the last couple of years, it seemed like everyone reached the same conclusion at once: There are more important things than your job.

But now, job insecurity is mounting in industries like media and tech — and the wobbly global economy has been punctuated by several high-profile bank failures.

So as our work lives are once again thrown for a loop, a question arises: What’s the difference between simply being invested in your job and being unhealthily obsessed? Unfortunately, the answer isn’t so cut and dried.

Amazon pay, Billionaire towns, & more

• Amazon is planning changes to how it pays workers. According to a leaked email, the company told managers that it’s decided to reduce the number of stock awards for employees in 2025. It may increase the cash portion of pay instead. More here.

• Goldman Sachs was fined $3 million for mixing up 60 million short-sale orders. FINRA, a Wall Street watchdog, said that Goldman had mismarked “short” sales orders as “long” because of a line of missing code in a software update. More here.
