In Defence of the Anglo-Saxons

IT really rattles my cage whenever people start handing out blame and referring to the ‘Anglo-Saxon’ world’ or the ‘Anglo-American’ partnership. These terms are often used by other Europeans, but it’s a pity more people don’t take note of what happened in 1066 when England was invaded by the Normans and subjected to a foreign occupation (‘yoke’) which, unlike the rest of the country, spoke French for around 300 years and transformed us into a mercantile nation for which the poor Anglo-Saxons now get the blame.

Indeed, anyone who has studied the infamous Domesday Book that was commissioned by William the Bastard will know that the land and possessions of the Angles, Saxons and Jutes was assessed in minute detail by a rapacious dynasty that sought to eradicate centuries of English civilisation. So remember, whenever you speak of the present ruling class as ‘Anglo-Saxon’ you insult the memory of our great forefathers who fought tooth and nail against the profiteering outsiders who, themselves, eventually met their match in the ambitious moneylenders who enslaved them in turn.
