Bernie Sanders: “No more bombs for Israel”

Over the last two days, Israel has launched a devastating new wave of bombings in northern Gaza, targeting apartment buildings, hospitals, and schools in refugee camps. Hundreds have been killed, including many children.¹

After last week’s killing of Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas and architect of the October 7 attacks, there was hope that Israel might seize the opportunity for a ceasefire.²

But it’s now clear that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has no intention of ending the assault on Gaza. The killing will only stop if the U.S. cuts off Israel’s endless supply of bombs and other weapons.

Senator Bernie Sanders is leading the way by forcing a Senate vote to block $20 billion in arms sales to Israel.³

Or, donate another amountLast week, the world reacted in shock and horror when video emerged showing Palestinians burning alive in a hospital tent camp that had been bombed by Israel. Some of the victims died in their hospital beds, screaming for help, still connected to IV tubes.⁴

One comprehensive new report from researchers at Brown University found that 114,000 people have been killed since the start of Israel’s war on Gaza, the majority women and children.⁵

The annihilation of Gaza’s health-care infrastructure has led to outbreaks of cholera, measles, polio, and meningococcal meningitis.⁶ Nearly two million Gazans — over 90% of the population — have been displaced, most fleeing repeatedly to escape Israel’s relentless bombing. At least 345,000 are facing catastrophic levels of food insecurity, the polite term used by international agencies to describe “starvation.”⁷

There is no way that Israel could inflict such destruction on its neighbors without the weapons and political support of the United States.

We’ve mobilized over 100,000 people to urge Congress and the Biden administration to use all available leverage to demand a ceasefire, and now we’re turning up the heat to support Sen. Bernie Sanders’s resolution to stop the $20 billion weapons sale to Israel.
