Every few Octobers, we witness some special traditions in American life — the Yankees in the playoffs, a terrible Joker movie, and Democrats absolutely losing their minds. That was the case in 2008 when David Plouffe, Barack Obama’s campaign manager, referred to liberal-election anxiety as “bed-wetting.” The term stuck, even though the bed-wetters were sometimes right. This past weekend, as the polls tightened in the presidential race, New York’s Gabriel Debenedetti reached Plouffe to talk about the election. Today, Plouffe is working for Kamala Harris, and he explains why beating Donald Trump was never going to be easy.
