| What time is it?
As one of my friends puts it, some people these days are speaking in slogans like it’s 1776.
But it’s more like 1917.
I remember in the old days thinking that if only I could teach the other side some economics, then we’d be getting somewhere. Ah, naive little Tom!
What we are observing in the United States, and have been for years now, is not a question of people in charge lacking knowledge that other people might be able to give them. How I wish that were the world we inhabited, but it isn’t.
What we’re up against is a force against which reason is powerless: a totalizing ideology that seeks your unconditional surrender.
Notice that in the various demands the regime makes of you, there is no real attempt made to persuade you.
If you wondered about the Covid response, you were simply silenced. And one the one occasion when White House Covid adviser Andy Slavitt was actually asked a challenging question (on MSNBC, surprisingly enough), he flat-out admitted that he didn’t understand why freer states were doing no worse than heavy-lockdown and masked states, but insisted that we “know” those things work.
No evidence, just assertions and censorship.
We “know” that these things that have done no good but have turned your life upside down must work.
Gender ideology is at this point an epidemic, splitting families apart and exploiting the insecurities and confusion of youth. Not a single proponent says anything like, “I realize that what is being asked of you may be hard to accept. We are asking you to expand your understanding of a subject that has seemed fixed for thousands of years. We are demanding rapid and radical changes to our society and legal system. But please consider what we’re saying, and make room for us in your moral calculus.”
Ha! Fat chance. Instead you’re demonized as a “transphobe,” whatever that’s supposed to mean, and you know you’d better keep your mouth shut at work and in public if you don’t want to be ruined.
Again, reason is far from here. It’s assertion and suppression.
And yet we have tens of millions of Americans who will vote for more of this if it’s the last thing they do.
I still produce the Tom Woods Show, of course, and in principle I want to persuade as many people as possible. But I’ve changed my emphasis a bit. I’m more interested now in helping people who do understand our situation, and who aren’t clueless, to survive and thrive even in these dark times.
So far in my School of Life program I’ve covered everything under the sun to help normal people navigate a world that hates them: education, parenting, investing, real estate, relocation, medicine without the state, fitness, survivalism, starting and growing online and offline businesses, building a secure home, deprogramming the propagandized, eCommerce, becoming a better communicator (in speech and print), winning when you’re outnumbered, becoming cancel-proof, college alternatives, debt-free college, fighting surveillance, and plenty more.
I am seeking people who understand what time it is.
And as I mentioned yesterday, I have just put the finishing touches on my latest book — my thirteenth, and my first in nine years — called Diary of a Psychosis: How Public Health Disgraced Itself During COVID Mania.
I get lots of requests for signed copies of whatever my latest book is, but because I’m an old(ish) man this time around I’m making signed copies into a bonus:
When the book is published, I’ll be shipping signed copies of my new book (complimentary ones, to boot) only to the folks who join me over the next several days inside my project to help all of us find freedom in an unfree world, and then, if we dare, build a freer one:
