AOC Is Just a Regular Democrat Now

by Freddie deBoer

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez once said, “In any other country, Joe Biden and I would not be in the same party” — a statement that epitomized her distance from (and her distaste for) mainstream Democrats. But a closer look at her time in office reveals a politician who can’t seem to make up her mind about whether she’s supposed to be a righteous thorn in her party’s side or one of its most prominent team players. As the writer Freddie deBoer argues in this essay, perhaps there’s not much difference anymore between AOC and the party she used to deride.
