Republicans May Lead us to Our Doom

Ron DeSantis might not be the answer to the US’s foreign policy problems.

Ron DeSantis for a shining moment took a stand for a realist, sensible foreign policy approach to the crisis in Ukraine, showing everyone that he could potentially take a non-interventionist stance as president and prevent WWIII if he decides to jump into the 2024 race and actually get elected.

Then he flip flopped.

After weeks of taking flak from the likes of neocon/wicked witch of the west Liz Cheney and every other warmonger with and “R” or “D” next to their name, DeSantis has now walked back what he called a “territorial dispute” in order to abide with the mainstream narrative that the invasion of Ukraine by Russia is a purely black and white issue.

We can spend this entire time arguing back and forth whether or not he believes what he says, or if he’s like every other politician, especially those who bend their own personal beliefs in order to compete for the very top of their party’s ticket, but this actually forces us to ask a difficult question— will the Republicans, not the Democrats, be the ones to potentially send us into oblivion?

It’s an honest question.

Every Democrat it seems has basically turned into George Bush a la 2003. They want missiles launched, boots on the ground, Russia decimated, war trials, and as much money as humanly possible shoved into maintaining the Ukrainian government, a government that not even a few years ago most Democrat politicians and media members called one of the most corrupt governments in the world.

Now, we have had a good contingent of Republicans in the House and Senate speak out against the billions in arms and aid sent to Ukraine, but time and time again has shown that Republicans fold each time they are passed a Ukrainian aid bill.

We know how Nikki Haley would lead us into WWIII faster than you could say “Raytheon.” We know DeSantis probably doesn’t actually want to get us involved, but would he do so if it meant moving into the White House?

As it appears right now, it once again falls to Donald J. Trump to being the only adult in the room with the balls to say what is true and the strength to do- or not to do- what others won’t.

We know the Democrats will put us in the worst position ever by pushing us one step closer to the end of the world, but will Republicans have their hands at spelling our doom too?
