  1. I know of one tribe that still does a biennial weapons check of the arms owned by all able-bodied men in the tribe. This is a hold over from the past, when the coming of winter meant the beginning of the war season, a time when the tribe would have to defend its food stores from its neighbors.

    To this day the war chief still performs the weapons check. I attended at age 13 with my grandfather. When it comes down to it, no one will defend you and yours like you and yours.
