“Due to what no doubt many people will still consider to be sensitive content, the episode has never been shown on terrestrial TV in UK or in the Republic of Ireland and initial airings on Sky One were edited.”
Considering the British state in its current format is the product of armed insurrection in the “civil war”, and it predilection for violence to achieve political aims everywhere (most recently in Syria), its “don’t even go there” attitude is sickening.
It was banned by the BBC and RTE not the British government.
As someone from Northern Ireland the episode was clearly terrorist propaganda and not balanced.
Would Star Trek do an episode which makes reference to a real life terrorist group having a victory oover the USA?
Isn’t that pretty much how all religious taboos work, though? If the Catholic church displayed equinimity of reason and were less hypocritical the Christian religion would have died in infancy. Ideological memes thrive on deception and evasion; reality is not amenable to moralizing psycho-parasites.
I am a Star Trek fan. I saw the video. Banned by whom?

Why not? The Massachusetts Minutemen and Francis Marion’s guerrilla forces were certainly terrorist organizations opposed to the King’s rule.
