A decent biographical article on Ernst Jünger, I'll give it that. At least it does not confine itself to the usual early life and works as most writers do, even from academia.

Reading early Ernst Jünger is useful only as an aid to understanding the later works, through the organic evolution of his ideas. But even this is not strictly necessary - works like Eumeswil or Glass Bees or Heliopolis can be understood, if the reader is at their level, without ever reading Der Arbeiter, Storms of Steel etc. In fact, since each of us has only limited time, I would recommend the later works as priorities, and only when the reader has excess time or a great interest in the author, to read the early works.

Louis-Ferdinand Celine should probably be best described as "doctor and novelist". I don't know if he did any acting, but I doubt it. He was an extraordinarily ugly man.

A search of the Salt Lake City library catalog reveals three Junger books: "Aladdin's Problem", "A Dangerous Encounter", and "The Glass Bees". The last sounds very interesting. Any recommendations out of those three?

An engaging and informative exposition on the life anc work of an important philosopher and literary figure (one I never heard of during my studies as a German major with lots of literature in the curriculum!). The "opposition is collaboration" quote is especially intriguing, as is his pronouncement on the need for a spiritual dimension to any successful revolution. Well done! Which book would you recommend starting with, Keith?
