Alan,

Some of your stuff seemed to be forwarded from other lists and showed up as spam, but I think I retrieved them all. Let me know if any other comments are missing. Thank you for your participation.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LibertyDistricts_USA/
Most and perhaps all secessionist movements need to reduce their territorial claims and this certainly includes the LOS. They need to claim only a small contiguous area that avoids the big cities and probably the communities of color. SVR will probably have to reduce their territory as well, and Cascadia certainly must abandon it's claims on Idaho and Montana.
There just aren't enough secessionists to build majorities in whole states and regions like that. Ideology is OT but territoy is certainly not and both LOS and Cascadian territorial claims are hugely excessive. Secessionists without excessive territorial claims include Christian Exodus, Free Town Project, and Liberty Districts.
Soverign entities need to be organized exclusively around POLITICAL lines, never cultural, ethnic or racial, though religion is political. Though some economic lines may be necessary such as avoiding getting landlocked and thus blockaded.

Comments anyone? I'm particulary curious as to what LOS members would say in response to this.

While I'm inclined to think Naylor may be overstepping a bit, as matters of ideology and moral philosophy are for specific secession movements to decide among themselves, the points he raises are valid. The South has not only a huge black population, but also Hispanics and the standard cosmopolitan atmosphere of large cities can be found in southern metro areas as well. This will have to be considered by any viable Southern secession movement.

I certainly don't think a unified southern secession under confederate ideology/symbolism is workable. A more viable plan might be dissolution of southern states into regional federations of communities organized along particular ethnic, racial, religious, cultural, political and economic lines.
